Richard W. Faylor

September 5, 1933 — April 25, 2014

Richard Wayne Faylor, 80, went home to talk to God on April 25, 2014. He was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Toledo to Raymond and Kathryn (Welling) Faylor. Richard lived in Point Place most of his life, and met his million-dollar baby, Carol Speelman, in the five-and-ten-cent store, and they married June 13, 1953.

Richard attended Macomber High School and worked for the Toledo Edison Co. Underground Department for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1990. He was a longtime member of the Ottawa River Yacht Club, a social member of the Point Place Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3265, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 245. He was a member of Point Place United Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, bowling, meeting new people and spending time with his family, and he was Carol's knight in shining armor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond Faylor.

He is survived by his loving wife, soul mate and best friend of almost 61 years, Carol; three children, Jeanne (Steve) Sparks, Richard D. (Michelle) Faylor and Douglas (John Souers, Sr.) Faylor; seven grandchildren, Jim (Lucy) Sabin, Bill (Megan) Sparks, Joe (Coty) Sparks, Danielle (Ben) Dietels, Nicole (Jeff) Rollins, Tara (Branden) Scanes and Jeremy Faylor; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Sabin, Alba Rollins, Madison Sparks, Kathryn Sparks, Emma Sparks and two on the way; two brothers, Charles (Marcia) Faylor and Carl (Geri) Faylor; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Point Place United Church of Christ, 4920 297th St., Toledo. Inurnment will be private at a later date in Toledo Memorial Park. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with arrangements.
