Richard Dwight Schroeder

Richard Dwight Schroeder, age 85, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Richard was born on April 21, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Thelma Jane (Smith) Schroeder.

Richard loved being outside, especially mowing the lawn. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was one to always be doing and tinkering with something. Richard was very crafty; he enjoyed building things, especially out of wood. He and his son, Roger, would help with Junior Achievements with their projects. He liked playing cards with his family, especially Rummy and Poker. Most of all, he loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his son, Roger (Debbie) Schroeder; seven grandchildren, Kim (John), Randy (Angela), Jenna, Jessica (Richard), Nicole (Sean), Patrick, and Cody; seven great grandchildren, Austin, Ava, Carla, Piper, Caiden, McKenzie, and Raegan; a sister, Doris (Leroy) Wertz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet (Tehan) Schroeder, whom he married on October 21, 1954; son, Richard Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Kathy Schroeder; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Richard's funeral service will take place on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. For the safety of the Schroeder family and their guests, masks are required along with social distancing.
