Richard "Joe" Rowland
Richard "Joe" Rowland, age 85 of Maumee passed away Saturday, February 26, 2005 in Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 26, 1919 to Dean and Margaret (Swantak) Rowland, Sr. in Toledo. Richard was a carpenter employed with the carpenters union for 10 years, retiring in 1984. He was a WWII US Army Veteran and a life member of the VFW #5536 and the Carpenters Union. Richard was also a member of the GAF and Harbor View Yacht Club.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (McGovern) Rowland; brothers, Dean and Don Rowland and sister, Dorothy Ball. He is survived by his children, RJ (Liz) Rowland; Penny M. (Maury) Collins; Richard Rowland, Jr.; Bonnie (Mark) Shambarger and Dean (Michelle) Rowland; siblings, Betty Ann Wayton; Mary Richter; Jack Rowland; James Rowland and Barbara Davis; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many dear friends who knew him in Florida.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd. Officiating will be Fr. Robert Reinhart. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Building Fund or to Notre Dame Academy Scholarship Fund.
