Richard T. Ray, age 75, of Toledo, passed away Monday, January 8, 2007 at his home. He was born February 23, 1931 to John and Veronica (Williams) Ray in Toledo. For over 30 years he owned and operated several small businesses, most in north Toledo. He's best known for Dick Ray's Sohio on Delaware & Detroit Ave. Richard's last employment was as a Pinkerton Guard until he retired in 1999. His passion was spending his free time with family and many close friends at his Bear Lake cottage in Hillsdale, Michigan.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Bill. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan M. (Bielawski) Ray; children, Richard (Debbie) Ray; Carol (Jack) Bartelheim; Larry Ray; Bill (Mary) Ray and Joe (Kerry) Ray; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Rossler; Regina (Tom) Meyers and Margie (Bob) Meegan; brothers, Jerry (Judy) Ray; Jim (Carol) Ray and many dear friends.
At Richard's request there will be no visitation or graveside service. However a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Toledo.
