Richard F. "Dick" Pierson, age 83, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, August 31st, 2005 in Lake Park Care Center. He was born July 23rd, 1922 to Gene and Georgianna (Deforges) Pierson in Coventry RI. Dick retired from Textileleather and the former First National Bank (currently Fifth Third Bank) after many years of employment. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 87th Infantry Division in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Dick was a member of VFW #606 and the Bavarian Benevolent Society, the Bavarian Sports Club and the G.A.F. Retirees. He also enjoyed boating and fishing with his children when they were young.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Pierson; her mother, Lorna Pierson; sister, Dorothy St. John; brothers, Bud and Lionel Pierson. Dick is survived by his loving family including his wife of 28 years, Dolores L. (Schwesinger) Pierson; children, Annie Todd (Pete) Wenzler of Lambertville, MI; Michele (Joe) Bristoll of Ft. Meyers, FL; step children, Joseph (Jan) Willinger; Michael (Marcia) Willinger; Linda Clark; Sandra Willinger and John (Cindy) Willinger; brother, Ed (Mary Rita) Pierson; 6 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Craig Scholl. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
