Richard M. "Dick" Pfeifer, age 77 of Lambertville, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, January 15th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 4th, 1933 to Arthur and Alice (Basilius) Pfeifer in Toledo. Dick married Juanita L. (Weirich) Pfeifer on September 17th, 1977 and together they spent 33 wonderful years. He was a 1953 graduate of Whitmer High School, receiving his Diploma in 2004. He worked at Chrysler Jeep for many years in the assembly department, later retiring in 1995. Dick was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, G.B.U and G.A.F. Retiree, Schwaben Verein and Toledo Swiss. He was a Past President of the G.A.F. Retiree and for a number of years was responsible for handling the photography for both G.B.U. and G.A.F. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His hobbies were fishing and woodworking. During the football season, he volunteered to serve the pre-game meal for his grandson's high school football team at Whitmer. Dick's family will remember him as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Juanita; sons, Kenneth A. (Karen) Pfeifer of Buford, Georgia, Daniel L. Pfeifer of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Raymond R. (Cindy) Pfeifer of Toledo and John L. (Lisa Petree) Van Oster of Erie, Michigan; daughters, Carole E. (Bob) Whitmore of Temperance, Michigan and Deborah A. Pfeifer of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Eric R., Melissa K. and Scott P. Pfeifer and Nick Whitmore; sisters, Shirley Jean Pfeifer and Diane Lynn Mason.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
