Richard Parthemer

Richard Holland Parthemer, age 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 7, 2015 at The Toledo Hospital. Richard was born May 25, 1938 in Toledo to John and Jean (Holland) Parthemer. Richard was a 1957 graduate of Sylvania High School and he later attended the University of Toledo. He was employed with the The Toledo Blade for more than 37 years as a Circulation Manager. He enjoyed working with the paper carriers and other members of the circulation department. He enjoyed golfing, arts and antiques. Richard was very social and enjoyed spending time with his friends. His only handicap was his back swing!

Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons; Gregory (Rhoda Hurtsellers), Gary L. (Sally) and Richard J. Parthemer, grandchildren; Caitlyn, Jacob and Aaron Parthemer, sister Carol Melle, and nephews James and Brian Melle.

The family will receive guests Friday, August 21, 2015 from 10:00 am at the Church of St. Andrews United Methodist, 3620 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio (419-385-6160). A memorial service for Richard will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the church with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions go to the charity of the donor's choice.
