Richard M. "Dick" Norek, age 71, of Toledo passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer at Hospice of Northwest Ohio where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 2, 1941, to Martin and Susie (Hanik) Norek in Toledo. Dick was a graduate of Waite High School and retired from GM Powetrain after 44 ½ years of service. He could often be found restoring and building cars in his garage, especially his T-Bucket hot rod. Dick was an avid fan of Nascar and had a love for high-performance cars. He had deep faith in God and attended services at Hope Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Nina P. (Wagoner) Norek; children: Jeff (Lori) Wagoner, Julie (Ron) Lynch, Becky (Kevin) Nowak and Gina (Matt) Wilson; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; good friends from over the years, Jim (Eileen) Bowman, John(Janice) Mills and Louie Sudeth and Family; beloved canine companion, Beag. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his grandmother.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery.
