Richard Paul Honner

Richard Paul Honner, age 79, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away November 12, 2016 at Addison Heights Health and Rehabilitation. He was born July 19, 1937 in Toledo to Emil and Ruth (Canelli) Honner. Dick was a graduate of Perrysburg High School and Bowling Green State University. He served in the US Army Airborne from 1962 to 1964. Dick was employed as a teacher and coach with the Toledo Public Schools for more than 33 years retiring in 1993.

Dick's passions were teaching and coaching young people, impacting countless lives. He coached basketball for almost 40 years at several high schools and Owens Technical College. He was always proud of his teams and especially reflected fondly upon winning the Ohio Technical College Championship in 1980. Dick was an avid sports fan and loved his Ohio State Buckeyes.

Dick is survived by his wife, Vickie Honner; children, Michael (Charlotte) Honner, Robert (Lori) Honner, Heidi (David) Thomas, Bret Honner, Brad Honner, and 8 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Marie Honner.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will begin Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
