Richard E. "Dick" Rice, age 84, of Toledo, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Lake Park Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 19, 1929 to William and Helen (Biddle) Rice in Toledo. Dick lived most of his life in Dearborn, Michigan until he moved back to Toledo in 1984. He was employed with Rolled Alloys Co. for 10 years as a traffic manager before retiring. Dick was a longtime member of the Toledo Eagles on Jackman Rd., the Moose Lodge #713 on Byrne Rd and the Old Newsboys. He also volunteered at the Jamie Farr Golf Tournament for 16 years. Dick was an avid golfer and euchre player and loved spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Rice; son, Randy Rice; sister, Norma Ludke; and sister-in-law, Flo Rice. Dick is survived by his son, Brian (Sharon Kubik) Rice; grandson, Brandon Kubik Rice; granddaughter, Carry Ann (Topash); siblings, Carol Brown, Bill (Berti) Rice, Barb Lindsey, Fred Rice and Phyllis (Ralph) Aprill; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
