Richard "Dick" B. Lowe, age 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. He was born July 15, 1931 in Toledo to Lorine and Allen Lowe. Dick served as a Mechanic on various aircraft including the B52's and B17's in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He went on to work for Nickle Plate Railroad in 1953 and retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad in 1976. Dick was a volunteer for the American Red Cross where he received the "Volunteer of the Year" award for 17 years of service. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, and loved the "Big 10."
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Rose Lowe; daughter, Christine (Mark) Switzer of Toledo; son, Allen (Sonia) Lowe of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Sharon Doran of Toledo; grandchildren, Jenny, Stephanie, Kevin, Sara, Jeffery and Mitchell and great-grandchildren, Madde, Megan, Molly, Bella, Dillon, Mia and Leah Ana; and sister, Susan Tarsha of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by son, Jeffery; brothers, Allen C. and James P.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
