Richard "Dick" Adkins, Sr.

Richard "Dick" Adkins, Sr. was born on August 14, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Temperance, Michigan. He left behind a legacy that touched many lives, particularly through his career and personal relationships.

Richard dedicated many years to managing the Boron Gas Station in Lambertville, Michigan, where he developed strong connections with his customers and neighbors. His warm personality and genuine love for socializing made him a beloved figure in the community. He graduated from Whitmer High School in Toledo, which set the foundation for his future endeavors and achievements.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country in Korea, embodying the spirit of dedication and resilience. Richard was also an active member of the RVYC Yacht Club in Point Place, Toledo, Ohio, where he shared his passions for boating and participating in club activities. In addition to his love for the water, he found joy in bowling and fishing, hobbies that brought him great satisfaction and allowed him to spend time with loved ones.

Richard is survived by his son Richard (Anna) Adkins, Jr., son James A. Adkins, and daughter Janet Adkins, along with his cherished granddaughters: Cherish Adkins, Kandis Aldrich, Tanya Morris, Amanda Morris, Jennifer Bruno, and Cassie Adkins. He is also remembered by many other family members who carry his spirit forward.

He joins his beloved wife, Bernice Adkins, and his parents, Earl and Lucile Adkins, as well as his brother, John "Sonny" Adkins, in eternal rest. Richard's warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Services to honor Richard will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH. A viewing will take place on February 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM and concluding at 3:00 PM.
