Richard Dean North

Richard Dean North, a long time resident of Toledo, passed away peacefully December 31, 2008. He was born September 20, 1943 to Frank and Louise (Dean) North. Richard grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey. After receiving a degree in finance from Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, he married Patricia Annette Northup of Dunellen, New Jersey in 1965. Richard worked as an accounting manager for the Prudential Insurance Co. for many years before relocating his family to Toledo in 1981 to attend the University of Toledo, College of Law. He earned his juris doctor in 1984. Richard's happiest moments were spent with his family at the Jersey Shore, visiting historical sites, and camping trips across the U.S. and Canada, and especially in Nova Scotia. He was also an avid genealogist, deeply engaged in his search of family history. As an amateur historian, he used his vast knowledge and intelligence to turn every conversation into a lesson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Frank and three infant sons. Richard is survived by his immediate family, Patricia; sons, Adam S. and Jonathan D. North; grandchildren, Roxanna, Gavin and Nathaniel North; brother, John H. (Sheila) North; sister, Diane Thomas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Fineberg; nieces, Emily, Phoebe, Susan, Allison and Suzanne; and nephew, Andrew.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, January 24, 2009, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the home of Patricia North, 2823 Sagamore Road, Toledo, Ohio, with a short service of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Newcomer Funeral Home assisted the family with professional services.
