Richard Billups, Jr., affectionately known as "Dickey," passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, in Sylvania, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 8, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard dedicated more than three decades of his professional life to the FORD Motor Company, where he made significant contributions and forged lasting friendships.
Richard was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed various hobbies, including fishing and bowling, activities that brought him immense joy and memories. His legacy is enriched by the strong family bonds he fostered throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Rochelle (Duaine Campbell) Burrell; his sons, Richard (Ester) Billups III, Al (Jennifer) Billups Sr., and Brian (Tymara) Billups Sr.; and his grandchildren: Deja, Khalil, Da'Mara, Bri'Onna, Bryson, Brian Jr., Layla, Simone, and Nando. Additionally, Richard is cherished by his great-grandchildren, Royal, Myron, Brian III, and Braxton
Richard joins his beloved wife, Agapita Billups, in eternal rest, along with his late sister, Beverly Galloway, and his parents, Richard Billups Sr. and Dorothy (Frank) Williams.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for February 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania, located at 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617. A funeral service will take place the following day, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. Following the service, Richard will be laid to rest at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery at 12:00 PM on the same day.
Richard Billups, Jr. will be remembered as a man of integrity, a loving father, and a treasured friend, whose spirit and love for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
