Richard F. "Red" Arens, Jr.
Richard F. "Red" Arens, Jr., age 67 of Toledo passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in Flower Hospital. He was born December 7th, 1937 to Richard and Margaret (Valiton) Arens, Sr. in Defiance. "Red" grew up in the Auburndale area in Toledo. He was employed for 35 years with Dana, Spicer Division, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the UAW Local #12 and the Spicer Sportsman Club. He was a past member of the former Beermore Club. "Red" enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing. He was instrumental in establishing Dana's bowling leagues as well as a former Secretary/ Treasurer of the leagues.
In addition to his parents, "Red" was preceded in death by aunt, Wilma Herr and uncles, Jim and Edwin Valiton. "Red" is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Bonnie (Glassmoyer) Arens; children, Howard T. Arens; Juliann M. Arens; Robin L. Arens; John A. Glassmoyer and Richard F. (Jaime)Arens, III; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sisters, Marylin (Robert) Gasiorowski of Clawson, MI. and Judith Miller; sisters-in-law, Sandra Glassmoyer and Dorothy Glassmoyer; brother-in-law, Thomas (Sharon) Glassmoyer; many nieces, nephews and dear friends and special cousin, Howard (Pat) Leffel, Jr. and special aunts, Ardith Valiton and Fran O'Connor.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 5:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry S. Craig.
