Rex I. Usher, 85, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2012. He was born on August 20, 1927 to the late Florence and William Usher in Ionia, Iowa.
Rex was a proud WWII Seabee Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Rex also liked going to UT Football games. He was involved in the Boy Scouts with all three of his sons in the '50s, '60s and '70s. Rex married the love of his life, Ruby on February 13, 1949 in Charles City, Iowa. They moved to Toledo in 1954 and joined Point Place United Church of Christ. Rex retired from Craftline Corp. in 1989. He participated in Honor Flight on April 13, 2011.
In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Roy, Louie, Keith, Johnny and Bruce; sister, Mary Lou Barr and daughter-in-law, Mary Usher. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby; sons, David (Candace), Kent and Jeffrey (Jan); daughter, Cecilia (Randy) LaGrange; sisters, Beverly Domazlicki and Ruth Cox; brother, James; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and all his fishing buddies at Merickel-Farley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at PPUCC at the corner of 117th and 297th in Point Place at 2:30 p.m.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Heartland of Waterville.
