Rev. Edward N. Hunkapiller

Reverend Edward Neal Hunkapiller died May 30, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 11, 1931 to James and Fannie (Gregg) Hunkapiller in Marshall Co., Alabama. Edward was a very devout Christian and extremely faithful in serving the Lord. He pastored at Holland Missionary Baptist Church for 37 years and was currently pastor of Harbor View Missionary Baptist Church, where he had served for 10 years. He also owned and operated Regency Trailer Sales in Toledo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wynell Hawes and Lenora White. Edward is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of almost 55 years, Betty; sons, Larry (Debbie), of Toledo and Philip (Tami), of Maumee; grandsons, Bradley, Lucas, Alex, and Zachary; granddaughter, Lyndsey; sisters, Virginia (Orville) McMillan, of New Market, AL, Sue (Travis) Staggs, of Sunbright, TN, and Helen Hunkapiller of Huntsville, AL; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A Funeral Service will take place Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Brother Orville McMillan. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
