Renate M. Hunter, age 73, a longtime resident of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 30th, 2011, surrounded by her sisters at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born August 31st, 1938 to Edward and Waltraud "Trudy" (Hettinger) Herbig in Heidelberg, Germany. Renate traveled to the United States at the young age of 13 by herself to join her mother. She attended DeVilbiss High School. Renate was employed with the former New York Carpet World for many years, traveling to several of the area stores to maintain and encourage correct company operations. She was an avid crafter, enjoying many types of crafts. Renate also loved to spend time gardening and working on her computer. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with family and friends. Renate will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her friendliness and warm smile.
In addition to her mother, Renate was preceded in death by the love of her life, with whom she had a long and loving marriage, Glenn "Rusty" Hunter; nephew, Steven; and her loyal canine companion, "Rocky". She is survived by her dear sisters, Sheri and her husband Jim Rumpf and Stormy Anne and her husband Chris Lippincott; nieces, Kim (Shawn) Conlon and Lisa (Ben) Exline and many dear and special friends.
Family and friends will gather together Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, 4210 W. Central Ave. for a Graveside Ceremony.
