Regina Renee Dunbar

February 4, 1966 — July 26, 2021

Regina Renee "NaeNae" Dunbar, age 55, a lifelong resident of Toledo, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born February 4, 1966 in Toledo to Vernon and Mary (Hart) Dunbar. Regina attended training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She started her career at Glanzmen Care Center and then went onto Harborside Health Care in Point Place, retiring after 12 years of service. Regina acted as a Union Stewart - Local 44 during her time in the health care industry. She struggled with kidney problems for several years. She became a patient and proud member of the Fresenius Dialysis Center Warriors, supporting others effected with kidney disease.

When Regina's health caused her to have to leave the health care industry, she found a new interest, working with her friend and partner, Gail's her catering company, Chef G Catering. Regina enjoyed baking and decided to go to school to learn cake decorating techniques. She became known for her delicious banana bread, German Chocolate and Pound Cakes and many other specialties.

Regina had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and traveling across the country when possible. She also loved listening to classic jazz and smooth R&B. Regina was an honest, special and caring person showing compassion for others. She liked letting others know how special they were to her by making meals and refreshments that were individual favorites of each person she visited with. Everyone also enjoyed her sense of humor in the nicknames she tagged family and friends with as each reflected their personality to a tee. Celebrating birthdays and other special days was also important to Regina. She was a loving sister, friend, mother to her siblings and the best partner Gail could ask for.

In addition to her parents, Regina was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Effie Lavender, Lovelle Lavender, Elma Dunbar and Vernon Leonard Dunbar, Sr. and mother-in-law, Lonnie Lee Dunbar.

She is survived by her loving wife, Gail Buford; brothers, Darrell Dunbar of Jacksonville, Florida, Marshall Dunbar of Toledo, Ohio and Vernon Kevin Dunbar of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother-in-law, Dow Kevin Buford of New York City and aunt, Martha Buford.
