Raymond William Base, Sr

Raymond William Base, Sr., age 81, passed away on January 22, 2015. He was born on October 13, 1933 to the late Helen (Berger) and Harvey Base in Oregon, Ohio.
Ray worked as a Truck Driver for many years. He enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards, horse races and wood-working with his son, Ray Jr. Most of all, Ray loved his family and spending time with them. He was a great husband, dad and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Maryann. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Debbie Base (Danny), Pamela (Clyde) Kiessling, Doris (Adrian) Garcia, Raymond William Base Jr., Patricia Hufford, Roxanne (Bob) Barnaby and Victoria (John) Canaday; sisters, Carol (Duane) Wicks and Diane (Glenn) Harris; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St. John's Lutheran Home and Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion.
The family will receive guests from 4-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at First St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
