Raymond H. Maciolek

March 13, 1925 — December 30, 2017

Raymond H. "Ray" Maciolek, age 92, residing in Toledo, trusted Jesus Christ to forgive his sins and prepare his heart for his future journey. He peacefully passed into God's eternal kingdom departing on December 30, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania surrounded by Christian music, thanksgiving, prayer and the loving support of his devoted family who were at his side. Ray was a graduate of Monclova High School. He was drafted at 18, survived the Battle of the Bulge and endured the tragedy of the war. Upon returning home, he immediately entered the workforce, trained to become a skilled machinist and provided support for his family. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2898 and attended St. Clement Parish. Ray was several years from retirement before Machinery Builders went out of business.

In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle with his wife Veronica. They would take rides and trips all over the tri-state area and loved taking walks in area parks. Ray was an avid bowler until August and maintained a 186 average. He loved, we mean LOVED bowling at Forestview lanes in Temperance, MI and was in Senior Leagues at Jugs and Miracle Lanes. Ray was a fan of NASCAR, Notre Dame and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

In addition to his parents, Frank and Frances, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Eckhart; and siblings, Floyd Haladyna, Virginia Boratyn and Irene Gruen-Reilly. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Veronica; children, Larry Maciolek, Linda Haines and Eileen (Chris) Maciolek-Ward; grandchildren, Nathan (Brandy), Benjamin and Andrew; great-granddaughter, Zolie; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
