Raymond J. Filas

Raymond J. "Ray" Filas, age 76, of Wauseon, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at home with loving family by his side. He was born on September 11, 1946 to Raymond and Cecelia Filas in Toledo, OH. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was employed with BC&E Company for over 30 years before retiring and starting his own business. Ray was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. Ray loved animals especially cats and dogs, enjoyed cooking and gardening. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and grandsons. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Nikki Filas; beloved daughter, Aimee (Mark) Simpkins; grandsons, Mason Wisniewski, Taylor Wisniewski and Benjamin Simpkins; former son-in-law, Bob Wisniewski; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Robin) Kimpon; best friend, LeRoy (Brenda) Gibson; feline companion, Mocha Joe; and many nieces, nephews, dear neighbors and friends.

There will be no visitation at this time for Ray. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
