Raymond Adkins

Raymond "Ray" Adkins, age 64, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in his home. He was born October 6, 1944 to Ballard and Mellie (Bentley) Adkins in Pikeville, Kentucky. Ray was an avid car and clock collector and loved to work in his vegetable garden. He often enjoyed watching the birds. Ray was very caring, loving and giving, always providing for his family. He loved nothing more than to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ray will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his lifelong companion and mother of his children, Joyce Sumner, 1 brother and 1 sister. Ray is survived by his mother, Mellie Adkins; children, Anthony Sumner, Michelle (Brett) Smith, Stephanie (Jason) Nowak and Ruben Navarez-Adkins; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (Shelby Jean), Andy, Oscar (Carol), Donald and Homer Adkins; and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Saturday from 12 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) where Funeral Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Roy Pickett.
