Randall L. "Randy" Gensler, age 70, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024. He was born on December 12, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Verl and Mary Gensler.
A proud graduate of Start High School, class of 1973, Randy left his mark as a dedicated athlete, participating in both football and wrestling. His vibrant spirit and strong sense of camaraderie were evident during his college years at the University of Toledo, where he joined the Phi Psi fraternity, forming friendships that would last a lifetime.
Randy enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Great Lakes Bar Control, but it was often his personality that drew people to him. With the best laugh and a collection of one-liners that could light up any room, he possessed a remarkable sense of humor that endeared him to family and friends alike. His warmth and contagious joy created lasting memories for all who crossed his path.
Randy’s interests were diverse and showcased his love for life. He treasured moments spent playing cards, particularly enjoying games of Euchre with his family. His eclectic taste in music led him to appreciate both Reggae and show tunes, showcasing his carefree spirit. A devoted sports fan, Randy cheered passionately for the Detroit Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Toledo Rockets. He found joy in bowling and derived great affection for dogs, often bringing together friends and family through shared activities and laughter.
He will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of sharing moments with him. Randy's legacy will continue through the laughter he spread and the love he fostered. He leaves behind memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who lovingly remember him.
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Debra Gensler; children, Chad (Ruth Gamber) Gensler, Aaron Gensler, Courtney (Aaron Peterson) Gensler, and Shaun (Emily) Gensler; grandchildren, Lucy, Sutton, and Aaron Jr.; brothers, Jack (Deb) Gensler and Bill (Carol) Gensler; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Verl Henry and Mary Emma (Corbett) Gensler.
Visitation for Randy will be held on October 6, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH (419-473-0300). A Funeral Service honoring his life will take place the following day, October 7, 2024, starting at 10:30 a.m.
