Ramona Andrews

Ramona Kay Andrews, of Toledo, Ohio passed away, Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 27, 1938 in Toledo to Dirk and Kathrine (Kragt) Leestma. Ramona, a graduate of cosmetology from the former Whitney High School, started her career at Joseph Roth Beauty Salon and finished as owner of the Jan-Mar Beauty Salon.

Ramona had a zest for life and family gatherings. She thoroughly enjoyed her work as a Beautician and dearly loved her clients, friends and family. Dancing for Ramona was a passion; whether teaching, participating or observing. Ramona was cherished and adored by everyone who entered her life. She was one "Classy Lady", who will be sorely missed and always remembered.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dean (Barbara) Ptaszynski, Ken (Rita) Ptaszynski, Vicki (Steve) Szabo, Renee Andrews and Edwin "E.J." Andrews; grandchildren, Monique, Michelle, Justin, Kyle, Cody, Nicole, Alexander and Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Bristol; brothers, Alvin Leestma, Paul (Carol) Leestma and Jerry Leestma; dear friend, Diana Poole. In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Leestma.

The family will receive guests Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo (419-381-1900). The funeral service will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
