Phyllis Rose Lyell, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living Center, four days shy of her 83rd Birthday.
Always one of the first to assist in functions her children were involved in, Phyllis affectionately known as "Old Lady" by her children and "Mom" by numerous kids they grew up with. She devoted her life to raising her family, trying her best to instill in them a sense of right and wrong, a sense of security and a sense of happiness and love. She will be missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Lyell; son, Billy Ray Lyell, Jr.; sisters, Beverly Birkenkamp and Betty Grindle; and brother, Russell Grindle. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Libby Poskarbiewicz, her husband Gary; son, Brian Lyell, his husband Clayton Langwell; daughter, Leslie Ortman, her husband Daryl; grandchildren, Cameron and Zackery Ortman; sisters, Donna Conroy and Geraldine Heck.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
