Phyllis J. Pitzen

Phyllis J. Pitzen, age 91, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her daughter's home where she was surrounded by her family. She was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Robert and Koneta (Waltz) Schuman on July 20, 1922. Phyllis was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Class of 1940. For fifteen years she worked in the Rectory for Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. Most important to Phyllis was caring for her family and enjoying the grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite past times was shopping and this included any type of shopping. She was a wonderful mother; kind, loving and supportive and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gareth (Sharon) Pitzen, Joni (Jack) McNutt and Jan (Craig) Jones; grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Bass, Lisa (Chris) Nicholas, Angie (Mark) Topolski, and Lupe Pitzen; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Hunter, Mina, Joey, Olivia, Sydney, Colsen; many other family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Pitzen; son, Arthur R. Pitzen and grandson, Joseph Pitzen.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
