Peter "KOPA" T. Benschoter

Peter T. "KOPA" Benschoter, age 80, of Perryburg, OH passed away November 11, 2024 at The Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 23, 1944 in Toledo to Lambert and Mary (Terrill) Benschoter. Pete was a 1963 graduate of Maumee High School. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 55 for over 40 years as a proud welder. Pete enjoyed anything to do with cars, especially drag racing and NASCAR. He also loved boating, his favorite destination was Put-In-Bay. As a child, Pete spent summers at the family cottage on Put-In-Bay. In his later years, Pete and his family enjoyed camping (with his grandchildren), and he traveled in his motor home. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire, eating smores and telling stories.

In addition to his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by his sister, Randi Benschoter. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pam Benschoter; children, Dee Dee (James Gehr) Thorsby, David (Lori) Benschoter, Tina (Donald) Robinson, Michelle (Michael) Hickerson and Christopher (Misty) Benschoter; grandchildren, Kevin, Becky, Michael, Angie, Sierra, Brayden, Stevenson, Darnell, Joshua and Madison; 13 great grandchildren; brother, House (Carol) Benschoter and sister, Jackie (Roger) Gargano.

The family will receive guests, Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Toledo Area Humane Society in Pete's memory.
