The world lost a small spark of its joy on Sunday, August 22, 2021 when Peggy M. (Smith) Spychalski passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg after a short but valiant battle with cancer at the age of 85. She was born July 28, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to Larry and Ruth Smith. Peggy met and married the love of her life, Donald Spychalski August 24, 1968.
A graduate of Waite High School, Peggy made a career at being a world class waitress. She was highly respected and much requested by many people who would often wait for longer periods of time for dinner just to be seated in her section. Peggy's career spanned many of the areas popular restaurants including favorites like the Bungalow to the Top Floor and the Charcoal House. All who knew her loved her. She always had a smile for everyone from the support staff to the chef to her loyal customers.
Peggy loved baking, gardening and staying busy with yard work while spoiling her husband of almost 53 years, Donald Spychalski. In addition to Don, Peggy is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Conn of Maumee and many loving nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a devout catholic and regularly attended mass at Our Lady of Lourdes until the pandemic interruption.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave. Toledo, OH 43615 beginning at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive guests one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Peggy's memory.
