Peggy Ann (Croft) Marshall, age 66, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday May 10, 2010. She worked for over 40 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, caring for our community's elderly and mentally ill at Riverside Hospital, Darlington House Nursing Home, Cherry Hill Nursing Home, Golden Haven Nursing Home, and Sunbridge Nursing Home, to name a few. Peggy would comb through thrift stores to provide clothing, afghans, and trinkets to her patients who were abandoned by their family members. She would even occasionally take her children, grandchildren, and dogs to work, so that they may provide much needed hugs and smiles to the elderly.
Peggy shared many stories about her childhood in Canada, and was proud of her experiences as a student in a one-room schoolhouse—she really did hike a long way to get there. In her younger years, Peggy enjoyed taking her children on treasure hunts at antique stores, flea markets, and garage sales for Cobalt Blue dishware. She reveled in providing adventures and new experiences to her children.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Thelma (Lehman) Croft; her son, John "David" Marshall; and many furry friends for whom she shared her heart and home. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ronald Marshall; her daughter, Mary Marshall (Barbara "Bj" Waugh); step-daughter Rhonda Plunkett (Melvin, Eric, and Brandy); her 7 grandchildren: Jeffrey Marshall, Chelsea Marshall, David Marshall, Lea Ann Marshall, Jonathan Marshall, Stephanie Marshall, and Marissa Marshall; her dogs, Coa Coa, Emily, and Angel; her bird, Fruit Loop; and her cat, Ben. Also embraced by her as family were Jeannine Moore, Sheryl Reeves, and Kim Ruble. Peggy's first great-grandchild is to be expected in just a few weeks.
A special acknowledgement is extended to Mr. Brown, Sarah, and Kyna for being such good people and genuine friends to her over the years.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Peggy Marshall Memorial Fund at any Key Bank in Toledo, Ohio.
