Paulette Jones

April 2, 1947 — December 23, 2024

Toledo

“And whomsoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” John 11:26

Paulette Davis-Jones was born on April 2, 1947 and was the oldest of the eight children of the late Harry Davis Sr. and the late Myrtle Davis here in Toledo, Ohio. On December 23, 2024, God saw fit to call her from labor to reward at the age of 77.

Paulette received her education in the Toledo Public school system, having attended Gunkel Elementary and Libbey High School.

Paulette was united in holy matrimony to the late Reverend Charles W Jones on August 8, 1970, and relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania. To this union two children were born; Minister Charles L. Jones (preceded in death) and Elder Jared C. Jones.

Paulette was a dedicated mother, wife, and woman of God, serving in various capacities at Shiloh Baptist Church of Erie, Pennsylvania and working as a unit clerk at St. Vincent Medical Center, in Erie, Pennsylvania. After nearly 30 years, she decided to relocate back to her hometown to be closer to her mother and siblings. She continued working in the medical field at Toledo Hospital after coming back to Toledo. In 2007, Paulette united with Third Baptist Church of Toledo under the leadership of Rev. Kevin J. Bedford, and served faithfully until her health failed in 2009.

Despite suffering a debilitating stroke, Paulette’s faith remained steadfast, refraining from complaining and believing in God’s divine plan. She was a source of inspiration for all that interacted with her. After 12 years of semi-independent living with assistance from family and friends, Paulette made the choice to move to Otterbein Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood to ease the burden of those who assisted her. During her remaining years, she united with The Fresh Wind Church under the leadership of Bishop Darrell F. Sheares where she was loved and cherished.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Elder Jared C. Jones; granddaughter, Monica Folmar; brothers, Zebdiel Ben-Israel, Ronnie Davis Sr., Mark Davis and Kenneth (Lavoria) Davis; sisters, Arnetta (Clarence) Ellis and Denise (Gary) Cox as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Myrtle Davis; her husband, Reverend Charles W. Jones; her oldest son, Minister Charles L. Jones; and her baby sister, Laurie Madden.

“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” “Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:14,18 NIV
