Paul Vernon Stacey, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio, departed this world on August 20, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Paul was born September 25, 1938, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul and Margaret (Pipps) Stacey.

Paul attended Central Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1957. After completing his education at Central Catholic High School, Paul served his country in the Air Force, embodying the values of duty and dedication that defined his life. A devoted Catholic, he was a member of Christ the King Parish and devoted himself to community service through various organizations, notably the American Legion - Post 0132 and the Sylvania Moose Lodge. Paul had a wonderful career, working for the Bedford Fire Department, Monroe County Special Deputy and Dana Corp. With his passion for building and his creativity, he opened up his own construction company, Paul Stacey Construction. There wasn’t anything Paul couldn’t build or fix.

Paul met his wife, Judy, when they were teenagers. Fast forward, they exchanged vows and had three beautiful children together. They raised their family in Bedford for many years. With his love for the outdoors, they lived in Mio, Michigan for 15 years, but owned the property for over 40 years, in which he would enjoy the acres they had by snowmobiling and taking walks in the woods, where Paul would always say “I’m going to see my trees”. They returned back to the Bedford area, but that didn’t stop them from the family outings and gatherings. Silver Lake, which he has had for over 40 years, became a popular family spot in summers and on the weekends, where the children and his grandchildren would enjoy fishing and cookouts. Known as Paul to most, he was “Poppy” to his grandchildren; they were his everything and he enjoyed watching them grow up.

Paul was not just a dedicated worker but also a passionate outdoorsman. He found joy in fishing and hunting, frequently sharing stories of his adventures that would spark laughter and nostalgia. His love for nature extended to his creativity, where he showcased his talent for crafting masterpieces that captured the beauty of wildlife and birds. Painting, building, and creating were not mere hobbies for Paul; they were expressions of his vibrant spirit and connection to the world around him.

Paul is survived by a loving community and countless friends who will forever hold his memory close. His enduring spirit will live on in the woods he roamed, the waters he fished, and the art he lovingly crafted. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his impact and inspiration will echo through the lives he has touched. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and creativity that will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. In remembering Paul, we celebrate not just his accomplishments but the warmth and kindness he shared with everyone he met. His laughter, stories, and artistic creations will be dearly missed but cherished in memory.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Judy (Hester) Stacey; children, Christopher (Jan) Stacey and Vernon (Sheri) Stacey; grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Stacey, Brandon (Kristen) Stacey, Jennifer Stacey (Joe), Kyle (Emily) Stacey, and Raellen (Andrew) Shadler; great grandchildren, Aurora, Nova, Logan, Kashton, Ellarae, Kaden, and Caleb; and sister, Peggy Hineline.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Stacey.
