Paul R. Kemp, age 82 of Toledo, passed away Saturday, June 19th, 2010 at The Toledo Hospital. Paul was born February 3rd, 1928 to the late Leo and Helen Kemp in Toledo, Ohio. He attended DeVilbiss High School later serving in the U.S. Army. Paul worked at Schultz Die Casting for several years and then went to work for Champion Spark Plug Co. He was a highly skilled millwright, later retiring in 1989. Paul was a member of St. Clement Catholic Parish for over 54 years.
Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was well loved and he could be ornery. Paul loved to garden and he always shared his bounty with many. For many years he and his wife Fay, spent many summers on Catawba Island where his family has cherished memories of the time spent there. He loved to fish and he was good at it, many perch and walleye dinners were enjoyed by all. He also enjoyed playing cards and dice with family and friends. Paul was an avid reader and he loved to watch the birds. He maintained a wonderful bird station for this purpose.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard and Floyd Kemp; sisters, Lorraine Bondy and Eleanor Danyi. In addition to his wife, Lorena "Fay" Kemp, he is survived by daughters, Jeanne (Jim) Woods and Jennifer (Mark) Scheuer; grandchildren, Jason and Tobin Morse, Emily, Zachary and Dean Scheuer.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Final Prayers will be recited in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Parish, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Officiating will be Fr. Michael Brown. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Paul's family wishes to thank the staff at The Toledo Hospital ICU for their diligent care of Paul during his illness.
