Paul G. Zatko, age 82, of Sylvania, passed away on May 29, 2013. He was born on April 24, 1931 to the late Hedvika and Frank Zatko in Toledo, Ohio.
Paul was a 1949 graduate of Macomber Vocational High School. He received his BBA from the University of Toledo. Paul served as First Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon return, he received his Master's Degree from the University of Chicago. Paul married Marianne Madden on August 18, 1962 and welcomed her three children as his own. He continued his career at Owens Community College, serving as Chairman of the Business Department and as a Professor. Paul loved Military and Railroad History and memorabilia associated with them. Some of his family's fondest memories are spending time at the beach and various family outings. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marianne Frances; daughter, Andrea and brother, Frank "F.A." Left to cherish his memory are his children, Thomas (Michele) Madden, Jr., Nicholas (Paulette) Madden, Sr., Barbara (Tom) Huff, Michael (Ann) Zatko, Eric (Lisa) Zatko and Ami (Donnie) Absher; 8 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Zatko and many other family members and dear friends.
The family would like to thank special neighbors, Rodney and Sharon Clark, Laskey Dialysis Center, The Flower Hospital ICU Unit, especially Katrina, and his wonderful doctors for their care and compassion.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Scripture Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5562 Dorr St., Toledo. Friends and family may also visit at the church from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
