Paul A. James, 49, went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2012. He was born and raised in South Bend, IN and was a current resident of Toledo, Ohio.
Paul had a passion for bowling and volleyball; he enjoyed playing in many leagues through the years. He was a well-respected artist in the Toledo area. Paul was proud of his home studio in which he created his paintings and drawings. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially going out dancing. Paul also enjoyed spending time with his best friend playing video games. He will be fondly missed by all who knew him.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. James, Sr.; multiple sets of grandparents, including his beloved grandmother, Betty Skees; uncle, Don Skees and nephew David Michael Lubelski. Left to cherish his memory is loving husband of nearly 14 years, Patrick Savory; son, Noah Savory; parents, Larry and Sharon Bates of South Bend; "Mama" Roz Copeland of Toledo; sister, Jackie James of North Liberty; Uncle Mike (Mary Jane) Skees of South Bend; Aunt Peggy (Dave) Szymanski of South Bend and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Also left to cherish his memory is his "Chosen Family" including, best friends, Ryan Herr, Alex Tussing, Sandra Villarreal, Eric and Harmony Zolciak, all of Toledo, and his faithful furry companion, his golden-retriever, Sammy.
The family will receive guests on Saturday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, visitation one hour prior to service.
