Patrick Joseph Sczesny

Patrick Joseph Sczesny, age 61, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 15, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Toledo. Patrick was born July 19, 1963, in Fostoria, Ohio, to the late Daniel and Dorothy (Lyons) Sczesny. 

Patrick graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of 1981. Patrick dedicated a significant part of his life to his career as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to explore his love for the open road while providing for his family. 

Patrick loved the great outdoors, where he would camp and explore new areas. Known as a “river rat” by some, he would have so much fun going to the river with his siblings and friends. Those who knew Patrick appreciated his passion for writing poetry, which will forever be special to his family. 

He found joy in the simple things, often spending cherished moments with his dog, Leah, and his grandson, James. These relationships brought him much happiness and were a central part of his life. 

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, and his memory will live on through the stories shared by his family and friends.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his son, Patrick Sczesny II; grandson, James Sczesny; siblings, Danny (Debbie) Sczesny, Mark Sczesny, Tim Sczesny, Steve (Lisa) Sczesny, Jeff Sczesny, and Jane (Bob) Ricchiuto and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will always carry fond memories of their time with him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Bowser, Mary Lee Sczesny, and Tom Sczesny. Patrick also held a special place in his heart for his grandmothers, Pearl Lyons and Anna Sczesny, both of whom he was very close with during his life.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Saint Rose Cemetery, at 11:00 am.
