Patrick L. "Pat" Kennedy, age 90, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Kingston Care Center, Sylvania. He was a special man who knew the strength of gentleness, who gave the gift of thoughtfulness, who lived a life of kindness and of love. Pat was born on August 10, 1923 to James and Margaret (Doyle) Kennedy in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving his country proudly in WWII. Pat was stationed in the Alaskan Wing for 16 months in Air Transport Command. He was a boxer in the Golden Gloves. Pat worked as a Master Marble Mason for many years and then went on to work at Chrysler, retiring from there and then also retired from Lucas County Water Department. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio, the Damascus-Collingwood Lodge #643. Pat was also a longtime member of Reformation Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping, golfing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Ann Kennedy; and siblings, James, William and John Kennedy and Anne Rockwell, Dorothy Phillips and Margaret Wannamacher-Dorn. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Kennedy; sons, John Eric Kennedy and Mike (Terri) Kennedy; grandchildren, Sean, Margaret and Elizabeth; his little shih-tzu, Katie; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church, 4543 Douglas Rd., Toledo. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
