Patricia Ann Whaley, age 71, of West Toledo, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio to Alfred and Clara (Hardy) Boerger. Pat will be affectionately remembered as "Aunt Pat," by more than 300 children in which she cared for in her home known as "Aunt Pat's Funny Farm" for over 35 years until only recently having to retire due to illness. A long time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, she was an active volunteer for both the Boy and Girl Scouts, and a past president of the Maumee Children's Home. As a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 40 years, she worked on many projects including the State Conventions and the St. Jude's Dream Home Campaign. Pat loved going to and putting on garage/estate sales, "Sales by Pat." She also worked at Fannie Farmer and Hickory Farms. Pat held Jesus' love in her heart and was always a loving and compassionate person even as a young child taking care of others, especially the elderly.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tammy Harwaldt of Strongsville, OH and Karen (Jeff) Bitter, of Toledo; her sisters, Barbara Jean Repass, Georgenna Boerger and Sue (Sal) Davie; brother, George (Linda) Boerger; special friend and ex-husband, Robert Harwaldt; special family, Greg Repass and Phyllis Heyse; Nana's girl, Sarah and many nieces and nephews; canine companion, Blackie and granddog, Teddi. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Whaley Sr.; daughter, Mary Ann Harwaldt and sister, Mary Ann Boerger.
The family will receive guests Friday, October 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., (419-381-1900) where the Boy Scouts will lead a service at 6:45 p.m. followed by the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving guests one hour prior to the Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Road, Toledo. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request baby clothes/shoes to be donated to a charity in honor of "Aunt Pat" (donation box to be set up at the funeral home) or donation to the Toledo Zoo.
