Pat Volmar, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Northwest Ohio Hospice in South Toledo after a losing battle with lung cancer. Born October 10, 1928 to Albert and Mabel Munroe in Detroit, Michigan, Pat graduated from Cooley High School and attended Hillsdale College. She worked for United Air Lines and then met and married Joseph (Joe) Volmar in 1953 and he survives. Also surviving are sons; Paul (Gerri) and Kurt (Mickie Douglas) and daughter-in-law; Sherie Volmar along with 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law; Gertrude Volmar, daughter-in-law; Debra Volmar (4/8/92), son; Eric (12/20/95) and son; Mark (1/25/96). Pat worked for the family businesses, Young World Day Care Center in the 1960's and then Volmar's Kitchen and Bath Center until her retirement in 1991. She was very active volunteering for the Thrift Shop Association of Monroe.
Pat dearly loved her family (especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren), many friends, her kitty cats, Hollywood trivia and old movies along with her passion for crossword puzzles. She enjoyed living in her log home in Dundee, Michigan and thrived on observing her favorite wild birds, wild flowers and whitetail deer visiting her each day.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Pat Volmar's life will be held on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 6072 N. Main St. in Sylvania, OH. 43560, with a light lunch to follow (casual dress).
