Patricia (Dittman) Mobley, 76 lovingly known as Mommy, Mom, Nana, Granny, Seester and Patty passed away at Mercy St. Anne’s in Toledo, Ohio and entered Heaven on October 29, 2024 following a lengthy hospital confinement on her terms.
Patty was born in Willets, CA to Edgar Marshall and Katherine Ann Dittman. She was a long time CA resident before making her home in Toledo, Ohio. She had two daughters from her January 9, 1968 marriage to Clarence “Don” Mobley that they lovingly named Laura and Melissa. Despite their union ending in divorce, they remained lifelong friends and supportive of their daughters.
Following her divorce, she met and remained with her long time companion of 40 years, Larry Leitch.
Patricia was a brilliant person that worked hard to break into a “man’s” world in the late 1960s/early 1970s. She became the first female to graduate a formerly all-male collegiate program with a degree in industrial mechanics and a certification that paved the way for her to become the first female journeyman mechanic/electrician at Owen’s-Illinois Glass (OI) in Tracy, CA. She was an incredible welder, early on she developed a circuit board that allowed increased automation in blowing off defective bottles at the plant, and so many other accomplishments.
Always one with an artistic flair, she truly embraced the arts. It didn’t matter if it was sculpting, painting, cake decorating or crafting - she completely excelled. Art brought her tremendous joy and she loved sharing it with others. It would be remiss to not mention her cooking and baking skills. She was one that mastered every imaginable ethnic cuisine and her baked goods were something to behold.
While her talents are many and there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do, they do not compare to her fierce love for others whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger. She would literally give her last penny to a stranger. She routinely placed all others above herself. She loved being here on earth and fought most of her life to stay as long as she could. She will be eternally missed by her survivors and celebrated and welcomed by those preceding her in death.
She is survived by daughters, Laura Mobley of Toledo and Melissa (Josh) Little of AZ. Her long time companion Larry “Papa” Leitch. Her former spouse. Her beloved grandchildren, Sidney Rust and Jonathan and Katherine Wilson. Her siblings Betty Defratus, Donnie Dittman, Shirley Janz, Michael (Tammy) Dittman, Tina (Ben) Garcia, and Cathy (Randy) Craig. Her countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other family and friends. She is also survived by her beloved schnoodle, Georgie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Debbie Dittman, her step-brother, her brother-in-laws, Molly and Willow - her Bully pups and others.
At this time arrangements are private and being entrusted to the Newcomer Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on January 18, 2025 at the Secor Hotels where all are welcomed to come and share their memories, stories, and love for Patricia. We will be sharing the details of The Patricia Mobley Arts Foundation during this celebration of her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be requesting donations of art supplies or monetary donations to Directions Credit Union - Westgate Toledo, Ohio Attn: Laura Mobley in C/O The Patricia Mobley Art Foundation. All donations will be used to promote a love and interest for art in the Toledo community.
