Patricia Ann "Paddy" McAvoy, age 66, passed away peacefully with her devoted children by her side on Friday morning, March 23, 2018 at Genesis - Swanton Valley Health Care. She was born on November 4, 1951 to Dr. Harry Drew and Virginia (Craig) McAvoy in Toledo, Ohio. Paddy was a 1969 graduate of St. Ursula Academy. She was always a hard worker at anything she did. Paddy loved music, all animals, fishing, stock car racing, gardening, sailing, bowling, and entertaining family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker often loving having her children's friends over taking care of them but mostly being a Nana to her grandchildren. Paddy truly had a heart of gold, and would give you the shirt off her back. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher (Angela), Jason (Shannon) and Erika Scheid; precious grandchildren, Tammi (Michael), Morgan (Kris), Chinyere, Patrick, Kori, Cassandra, Shannon, Devon and Keira Bella; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Preston, Westley, Olina and Alexander; longtime companion and acquired father to her children, Dewey Ayers; siblings, Richard (Tess), James (Barbara) and Lara (Dennis Maney) McAvoy; brother in law, Larry Schenck; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Schenck; nephew, Bradley McAvoy and sister-in-law, Jane McAvoy.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Her Funeral Service will begin on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park at a later date.
