Owen Leroy Strole

On Saturday, June 11th, 2022, Owen LeRoy Strole passed away in his home at the age of 84. He was born on October 11th, 1937 in Sylvania, Ohio to Russell and Eva (DeLong) Strole. He was married almost 63 years to Sandra (Weatherbee) Strole. Owen grew up in Holland, Ohio and joined the United States Navy at age 17, where he became a boiler operator. He and his wife lived in California from 1961 to 1967. Owen was proud to have worked on the Cer-Vit telescope lens for Owens Illinois. He went on to work as a truck driver for Auburndale Truck, and later Swanton Welding, where he had many fond memories. In retirement, Owen was an avid collector of lighthouses and toys, and loved to make birdhouses. He enjoyed showing his collections to everyone who visited him. All who knew him enjoyed his stories and his sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arlo Strole; and sister, Arlene Stull. Owen is survived by loving wife, Sandra; children, Russell Strole and Kimberly (Patrick) Strole-Kramer; grandchildren, Hannah and Chayah Kramer; sister, Verlia (Strole) Vogelsong; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Springfield Township Cemetery.
