Orval D. Holcomb, Sr., age 86, of Toledo, went home Monday, November 10, 2008 to be with his "little man" Fitzgerald, Orval Jr. and his loving wife, Louella. Orval lived with his grandson, Tony and granddaughter Laura for several years and they were by his side throughout his illness and at his bedside when he died. He was employed with Interlake Steel for more than 30 years. He was known as "Grandpa" by all who knew him. Orval will be remembered by those same people for always lending his helping hand. It was with his family and friends that he enjoyed sharing his time and wisdom. Orval was an excellent marksman and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and guns. He also loved woodworking, fixing things, watching the History Channel, Sci-Fi and the Travel Channel. Orval's memory will be special to his great grandchildren who lovingly called him Papa. They were truly the joy of his life.
Orval is survived by his children, Ernest (Okcha) Holcomb; Ethel May (Dave) Richardson; Patricia Holcomb; and Loretta Thomas; grandchildren, Tony "Jr." (Laura) Richardson; Andrew (Beth) Richardson; Marie Holcomb; Wes (Tracy) Pierce; Spring Parker; Cynthia Pierce; Beth Pierce and 15 great grandchildren.
