Orpha Amilie Bacon
Orpha Amilie , age 92 of Toledo passed away Monday at Lake Park in Sylvania. She was born October 19, 1910 to Hugo and Emma (Dehnke) Schroeder in Hamler, Ohio. Orpha grew up in Ridgeville Center and Wauseon Ohio where she attended a one-room school-house. She graduated from Wauseon High School and worked as a Dental Assistant. Orpha was known for her ability to sew. Her quilting skills enabled her to make many beautiful quilts and "Gramma Bacon Bags" for family and friends and fellowship at Grace Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents Orpha was preceded in death by her husband; Virgil Bacon, and sisters; Helen and Margaret Britsch. Orpha is survived by her loving sons; William (Margaret) Bacon, Leonard (Joan) Bacon and Robert (friend Tom Wing), sister; Ethel Badenhop, 8 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe Street. Officiating will be Pastor Merlin Jacobs. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
