Oretha P. Lawson

Oretha P. Lawson, age 92, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at Heartland at Promedica. She was the daughter of David and Ada Griffiths. Oretha was a graduate of Whitmer High School and Tri-State Business College. She worked for Continental Secret Service for several years.

In 1945 Oretha married Wilbur E. Lawson, who preceded her in death in 1985. They had two children. She was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church, serving in many offices. Oretha was also a member of Flower Hospital Guild, Friendly Center Service Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #132 and was an officer in all these organizations. She volunteered for FOCUS and Feed Your Neighbor.

Oretha is survived by her loving children, David (Jodie) Lawson and Martha (Joe) Wiseman; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Corrine Reed.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
