Oliver B. Tribble

Oliver went to be with Jesus at 9:20 a.m., December 1st, 2010, peacefully and with grace. He valiantly and heroically endured the brain cancer that took his life. He was blessed to be able to remain at home until just two days before the Lord lifted him. It never stopped him from doing what he knew to be right, true and what he intended to do. Oliver was a natural athlete, excelling at anything he attempted; especially loving golf, tennis, bowling and many other sports. His absolute favorite place to be was his lake home in Indiana, where he loved to fish and tend his land there. Oliver was born in Atlanta, Georgia or, as he referred to it as "The Homeland". Georgia was always where his heart remained. He grew up in poverty, and rose to be a successful businessman and most importantly, the Pastor of a little white church called Central Park Congregational Church, where he and his wife remained until his death.

Oliver graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Christian Education. He pastored a number of churches in Pennsylvania until he moved to Toledo. Oliver never knew a stranger and loved people. He loved his Toledo Family.

Oliver met and married his wife of almost 30 years, Joanne, here in Toledo and they raised their two sons, Nathan Oliver (Kimberly) Tribble and Scott Robert (Stephanie) Schlatter with love and honesty. He was a faithful and tender husband with wisdom and concern for the welfare of his wife and his special companion, Darby, whom he called his little "man dog".

His many friends and family were precious to him. Mary and Timothy Worthy cared for him with gentle and deep love. Oliver's neighbors and friends; Tom and Jackie Nowak, Mark and Lori Ringger, Frank and Pat DiFrank were always there for him in a moment's notice.

Special thanks to Gary and Shirley Pollman who unendingly called, took Oliver golfing, encouraging him all the way.

Oliver has fought the fight, as the scriptures tell us, and he will get to hear the words, "Well done, Thy good and faithful servant".

He will join his mother, Margie Sue Phillips and his father, Ollie B. Tribble who went before him. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joanne "JoJo" whom he cherished and cared for in the most loving ways their entire life together. Bonnie, Darrell and Tina Partain remain and were loved beyond description.

Oliver was the proud grandfather of Bailee, Dani (Eric) and Jade and great grandfather to baby Xander. He leaves many nieces and nephews who will miss him so much.

Oliver preached his last sermon this Fall, but his words will stay with us all forever.

Thank You's also go to all of his congregants and special, special people at CPCC for the help that was given.

Oliver will be cremated and a Memorial will be held in the early Summer for a Celebration of his life.

Any gifts may be sent to his church, Central Park Congregational Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or your own special charity.

We also want to thank all the nurses, doctors, hospitals and all those who took care of his medical needs throughout the duration of this journey.

Dearest Oliver, we will see you on the other side!
