Oleene May (Fifer-Clark) Barber

Oleene May (Fifer-Clark) Barber, age 81, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, Valentine's Day, at Heartland of Promedica Flower in Sylvania where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 2, 1934 to Arthur Walcott and Myrtle Aleene (McCune) Fifer in Toledo. Oleene attended Scott High School and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She also attended the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center where she made many friends. In her younger years she worked as a dispatcher for Long Transportation. Following that, Oleene worked in retail throughout most of her life, including Ontario Store's and Walmart.

In her spare time she loved to sew, quilt and she devoted a lot of herself to her church; she sewed pocketbooks for many of her family and friends and she was instrumental in starting Ichthus Quilting at Bethany Lutheran Church, which creates mission quilts for the Lutheran World Relief. Most important to Oleene was her family, she always put their needs before her own and she treasured her dear friends as well.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia "Pattie" Webber, Kristina (Brian) Kramer and Susan (Avery) Morgan; daughter in law, Paulette Henderson; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Shirley) Fifer and her family in Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Michael L. Clark; son in law, Larry "Blue Lew" Webber and sister, Delphane Rothwell.

The family will receive guests on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Her funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3274 Upton Ave., Toledo, OH 43613, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
