Norman L. Wood, age 79, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born May 30, 1928 to C. Roy and Elsie (Anderson) Wood in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Norm loved sports and while attending high school was an "All City" hockey goal tender. He followed the Red Wings, Tigers, Wolverines and the Detroit teams. Norm moved to Toledo in 1950 and was employed at the DeVilbis Company as a purchasing agent for many years. He retired from Toledo Edison in 1990.
In addition to his parents Norm was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Doris M. (Vanderbeck) Wood; brothers, Gordon and Jack and sister, Frances Jacqueman. He is survived by his sons, Bob of Phoenix; David (Gail); Jeff and Jim of Toledo; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with services beginning at 1:30 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Andy Wiegand. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
