Norman E. "Norm" Laursen, age 70, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in his home. He was born on December 26, 1942 to Carl and Goldie (Dankert) Laursen in Hazel Park, Michigan. Norm was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War and retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was very active and served on many boards. Norm was also a member of the Rock and Gem Club, often volunteered for the Mildred Gibson Senior Center and was a collector of many things. He loved fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Norm loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Laursen. Norm is survived by his loving sons, Thomas (Annette) and Michael (Amanda) Laursen; grandchildren, Audrey, Isabelle, Gage and Isaiah; brothers, Andrew (Kim) and Arthur (Sue) Laursen; sister-in-law, Shirley Laursen; former spouse and friend, Joy Laursen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 1 – 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 3360 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, OH 43607. Memorial Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the church. The Newcomer Funeral Home assisted the family with professional services.
