Norman D. "Norm" Poland, age 85, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born on October 24, 1928 to Clifford and Augusta (Raitz) Poland in Toledo. Norm was employed with Conrail Railroad for 43 years before retiring. He was the past secretary of the U.T.U. Norm loved camping with his family and friends, especially sitting around the campfire.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Zbierajewski) Poland; sons, Darwin, Ricky Lee and Norman Poland, Jr.; sister, June Buford; and daughter-in-law, Margo Poland. Norman is survived by his sons, Clifford Poland, II and Raymond (Kathleen) Poland; daughter-in-law, Beverly Poland; siblings, Clifford C. Poland, Cheryl Johnson, Ronald (Sandy) Poland and Dori (Bernie) Church; grandchildren, Clifford Poland, III, Angela Poland, Joseph Poland, Donnie (Christine) LaFountain and Chad (Megan) Ketchem; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Conner Ketchem, Baily Rose, Craig and Nicholas Poland, Samantha and Isabella LaFountain; special friend, Laurie Stewart; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday from 2 – 6:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
